Powerbuild Post-Workout Supplement

Powerbuild isn’t messing around. They avoid nearly every common pitfall found in mediocre post-workout supplements, providing ample doses for all the right ingredients. Regular use will prove itself to be very beneficial to your regimen, and you’ll definitely feel its effects after just a day or two.

The Good: No proprietary brand nonsense, clear dosage and ingredients, effective, dosed correctly.

The Bad: A little pricey, tastes a bit strange, creatine content may make you have to change pre-workout supplement.

The creatine can be seen as a little unnecessary, but that’s just a slight knock, and may not even affect you depending on your other supplement use. If you are feeling like crap after each workout, or just need better recovery to come back at it hard the next day, Powerbuild has got you covered.

Review

We all know the feeling. Sometimes the hardest part about working out is later that night or the next morning. Before you know it, you’re sore all the time, feeling run down, and start giving yourself breaks from your routine. Next thing you know, you’re missing days in a row, all chalked up to the fact that you don’t want to feel sluggish and worn out from your workout.

Recovery is a huge part of strength and bodybuilding. You probably already know this, but are you stressing it to yourself? Sure, you may have kicked ass and powered through those last few sets thanks to your pre-workout supplement, or due to that lady across the room on the treadmill who had her eye on you, but you are totally going to feel it later.

Enter post-workout supplements. Your body does all it can with recovery, but how about giving it a boost? Post-workout supplements generally supply your body with more of what it already has, creating an accelerated, natural healing process that has you feeling better in several ways. Your muscles heal and strengthen, while your soreness and sluggishness is minimized.

Powerbuild does everything it’s supposed to do. You get the right ingredients, the right amounts, with none extra crap you don’t need. It truly allows you to keep pounding away day in and day out, minimizing all the ill effects that may otherwise hinder you. Its effects are definitely noticeable, and you’ll likely wonder how you got by without it.

What They Get Right

There’s much to praise here, so let’s get to it. The first thing you’ll notice is that you now what you’re getting. No mystery, no concealed dosages, just an easy to read label that spells it all out.

  • Glutamine – The backbone of very good recovery supplement. Glutamine is found in your muscles, and the amount gets depleted during your workout, leading to a loss of power and stamina, among other things. Your body replenishes glutamine on its own, but that can sometimes take awhile. Powerbuild has got 5 g of glutamine, which is a good, solid amount. This amount alone already does plenty to ensure a good recovery.
  • Leucine – Another common ingredient in numerous supplements, L-leucine is one of the three branched chain amino acids that helps stimulate muscle protein synthesis. BCAA’s help to build tissue and prevent lean mass from being broken down, helping you develop lean muscle and definition at a faster rate. Powerbuild has got a whopping 4 g of leucine, which exceeds the recommended dosage of around 2.5 g. You’ll notice it.
  • Betaine Anhydrous – Betaine anhydrous helps to promote muscle synthesis in the body, while also aiding in cell production, delaying post-workout fatigue, and protecting your kidneys and liver. A good dosage amount is 2.5 g, which is right where Powerbuild arrives at.
  • Beta-Alanine – Beta-alanine increases carnosine levels in your muscles, blocking that ever-familiar burning effect you feel towards the end of your sets, and thus allowing you to go longer and harder. Keeping this compound abundant in your system will carry over to your workout, while also aiding you in recovery. 3.2 g is considered ideal per day, but Powerbuild falls a little short, offering 2 g per serving. This is still helpful, however.
  • L-Carnitine, L Tartrate – Good combination going here. These related compounds, sometimes referred to as ALCAR, are both useful in fighting the effects of aging, such as chronic pain and fatigue. Even if you’re a young’n, this is beneficial in several ways. ALCAR is a potent recovery-promoter, helping your tissue to recover while also encouraging blood flow. These are definitely things you want after a workout.

What They Got Wrong

Powerbuild is a solid product, but there is always room for improvement.

  • Like many supplements, this mix falls short in the taste area. This never seems like a big deal initially, but you may find yourself fairly put off over the long term. So it goes.
  • Also, what’s the deal with so many supplements now offering just 20 servings per tub? 30 is always the logical amount per tub. Powerbuild should consider changing this.

Now, about the creatine. You can have too much of a good thing, and it just so happens that you’ll find creatine in just about every reputable pre-workout supplement — if you’re into such things…and you probably are. Powerbuild has a lot of creatine monohydrate. 3 g to be exact. A lot of pre-workout supplements have around the same amount, or maybe 1.5 g to 2 g. Take them back to back, and you’re pretty overloaded, and possibly feeling like crap.

Powerbuild is a great product, so you may want to change the dosage or brand of your pre-workout supplement. On the bright side, Powerbuild happens to have a better dosage than many of the ingredients found in pre-workout supplements, so you may be able to simplify things a bit and focus on a pre-workout supplement that is more energy-based.

Dosage

Take one heaping scoop (24.18 g,) and add to 10-16 ounces of water.

Conclusion

Powerbuild is in the top tier of post-workout supplements. It’s hard to find a product that hits it across the board on dosages, so you can consider giving this a try.

However; our favourite supplement is actually a stack, which we believe gives you better all round value. You can learn more about it here.
